Charlotte's first college football team ...

... was the CCUNC Owls! 

1946: Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina.
'Try that on your locomotive!' says one article below.

CCUNC students chose the name 'the Owls' because all classes were at night.

The spunky team didn't do too well that year and newspaper coverage was spotty
but I hope you enjoy a look back.

GO NINERS! I wish the athletic department would embrace this tradition and use the owls as a secondary mascot for football.

8:01am - Unfortunately Judy doesnt believe in starting or keeping traditions. That is to much work for her staff thats already streached to capacity.

Judy Judy Judy needs to get off that little dumb kick of hers with the shortened Charlotte 49ers version and go back to the full UNC Charlotte 49ers or UNCC 49ers like it always was.

The 1st Charlotte college football team was JCSU in 1892.
