ReplyDeleteThank you, I found this very interesting.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the greatest appreciation of value
was planting the tree in the front yard
of the last home. It wasn't even there in '56
but boosted the appeal of the house since then!
Harriet - I didn't even notice the tree! I like your positive viewpoint. - M
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the 'multi-million dollar shopping center' is Park Road Shopping Center. It opened in 1956 and that neighborhood (now thought of as part of Madison Park) is practically adjacent to PRSC.
ReplyDeleteAnon - Park Road Shopping Center, of course! Tx. (duh on me). -M
ReplyDeleteGas was 13 cents a gallon for a fill up plus check oil and tires at all service stations. Cokes were a nickle.
ReplyDeleteIke was pres and all of #1 America was crime free and educated and teachers respected and no illegal alien plus 2% unemployment rate and home ownership was 90%. No teen preggies and all homes had 2 parents. No same sex mess.
What happened to the good ole days? Oh yea. The commie libs took over in the 60s.

ReplyDeleteleave it up to a homophobic teabagger to turn a completely benign post about the development of some of Charlotte's older neighborhoods, into an opportunity to spout your right-wing gibberish about how much better America was when the blacks couldn't drink out of your water fountain, and the women were doing what women are, "supposed" to do: cook and clean.
there are just so many fallacies and so much ignorance behind your post, i don't even know where to start.
in the unlikely event that you wrote it as tongue-in-cheek, making fun of the same loser wingnuts you're making fun of... still not funny.
^^^ clearly smells like that sicko registered sex offender x-waterboy pedophile molester of minority teens predator in school football locker rooms who gluts up co sports blogs 24/7/365 under 500 aliass. this creepyasscracka type cost trayvon his life.
ReplyDeletecommunity parents search for the sicko bateria germ waste of oxygen emboldened in the obama age. his days are numbered.
hide your kids. sickos like this prey off fatherless teens pretending to be sympathetic to minorities. dont be fooled by the scammer.
I have a copy off a 1956 sales brochure from Madison P ark. It included an aerial photo and Murrayhill was not connected to Wedgewood. It also touted the Million dollar shopping center (def Park Rd Shopping Cnt). Many of our beautiful trees were left in place and many more were planted by homeowners.
ReplyDeleteAnd since there was no such thing as premarital sex, crime, black people, gay people or uppity women, I'm sure live was just so sweet.
Anon, July 5 - I'm sure a lot of Madison Parkites would love to see that brochure!
